The oceans are the largest source of food in the world.

Fish is the daily source of protein for 1.2 billion people. The people of some countries, such as Norway, are especially dependent on fish for meat in their food.

Hence, if there is a scarcity of the fish resource due to overfishing, countries like Norway will have trouble filling the stomachs of its citizens.

Assuming that it’s impossible to persuade its citizens to convert to a vegetarian/vegan diet, these countries will then have to either import fish meat from other countries (which is pricier than if they fished it themselves) or adapt to a new diet without fish meat, relying more on land-dwelling livestock for their source of protein.

Guess what he thinks about this potential chain of events.

But for the latter option, not all countries have the necessary amount of land to support a number of livestock that will be sufficient to feed its entire population.

So either way, things will not look good for a certain fraction of humanity if fisheries were to collapse due to overfishing. However, you don't have to cut fish off totally; you can start by reducing your demand
